Josie started as a skater in the Learn to Skate programs at Madison Ice. She was very nervous at first but with the patience of the instructors at Madison Ice she grew to love the sport and develop her skills. She joined the Madison Ice Diamonds synchronized skating teams run by Madison Ice when she was 8 years old and loved that too!
Working hard as an individual figure skater as well as a synchronized skater Josie developed her skills and continued to skate and coach at learn to skate through middle school and high school. When the prospects of going to college approached, she couldn't imagine that was the end of her skating career. Trying out for several teams throughout the country she ended up accepting a spot on the Lexettes in Boston and skated at the Junior level for 2 years while attending college. With this team she represented Team USA and competed internationally and even represented USA at Junior Worlds Synchronized Skating Championships.
After aging out of the Junior level she was faced to make another decision about her skating career. This time she opted to transfer to University of Minnesota and skate for the Northernettes synchronized skating teams in the Collegiate division. This season she is excited to skate with 2 other FSCM collegiate skaters/Madison Ice Diamonds alumni and compete against 2 others on different teams, all of who took the podium together at their most recent competition in Dec 2024.
In the summers when she is home in Madison she enjoys coaching learn to skate and synchronize skating at Madison Ice and Hartmeyer Ice Arenas.
